We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer responsible for enhancing site automation technologies, including production equipment and building automation. This role will provide design, programming, and troubleshooting support of automated controls to the plant services department for plant engineering, construction, and maintenance work. Education:

  • Relevant bachelor’s or associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience with an associate degree.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience with a HS degree/GED.
  • Experience with HMIs/SCADAs, with FactoryTalkView experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of low voltage controls (relays, safety circuits, drives, etc.).
  • Understanding of devices and interface technologies (sensors, IO modules, fieldbus, and networking).
  • Understanding of basic mechanical design methods and techniques.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, including ladder, function block, and structured text. RSLogix experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems, with Siemens Insight or Desigo experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Good project management and organizational skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support small capital and expense projects to ensure sustainable growth of site automation technologies.
  • Maintain building automation systems, including lifecycle management, modification, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with the automation team to research and evaluate potential automation projects for feasibility and provide data and proposals to management to determine investment strategy.
  • Act as an automation contributor on large capital projects.
  • Support day-to-day site automation and controls needs, minimizing production loss, and producing CAPA plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Research new technologies, gain competency, and train others after implementation.
