The Area Manager, Recycling Operations will oversee multiple Material Recycling Facilities (MRFs) in Ontario, ensuring productivity and financial performance. This role involves developing operating plans, evaluating performance, advising managers, and supporting budgeting and resource optimization. The manager will also focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or related field, or
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience, including supervisory/management experience.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or production, in addition to educational requirements.
- Proven experience developing teams and fostering a positive culture.
- Strong background in manufacturing/production environments, with a focus on KPIs and metrics.
- Experience implementing safety programs and conducting root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Excellent time management and a customer-focused approach.
- A track record of driving results and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing the area’s operating plan to achieve long-term objectives and ensure clarity in roles and responsibilities.
- Regularly review and evaluate area performance to set performance benchmarks and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Advise managers on executing programs and offer guidance on work plan modifications or contingency planning.
- Collaborate on budgeting for operating units, forecasting financial and staffing needs, and optimizing resources.
- Provide support to managers on budget compliance and performance optimization.
- Oversee human resource needs for the department, including recruitment, coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure all resources required to achieve operational goals are organized and scheduled efficiently.
- Participate in Profit and Loss (P&L) reviews and implement strategies for optimal equipment, facility use, and labor and material cost management.
- Implement programs to enhance safety, productivity, and profitability while ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHSA), Ministry of Transportation (MTO), and other relevant regulations.
