Facebook Password Scams and Job Scam Spam

We have all seen dozens of email scams, but imagine receiving one of your personal passwords as the subject line of an email followed by:

We have installed one RAT software into your device. For this moment your email account is hacked I have downloaded all confidential information from your system and I got some more evidence. The most interesting moment that I have discovered are videos records where you XXX.

My eyes went wide and then I smiled, knowing that I do not watch porn and this was just run of the mill spam blackmail. The only difference is, they had an old password which I used to use for Yahoo email. Every single one of their users’ email passwords was stolen by hackers and has now been released on the dark web.

On the job scam spam side of things, I have seen dozens of variety over the years and even one sophisticated scam impersonating my employees! The scammers based out of Quebec and the Philippines and promised jobs in Canada if the victims sent a few hundred dollars for “processing”.

I just received the below scam job offer that was very easy to spot. The number one way to spot a scam offer is the source email. Another clue is when they don’t have your name or profession or even clear job duties. Keep in mind that these scams will become increasingly sophisticated, grabbing information from Linkedin/Indeed and other sources in the future.

Remember any proper recruiter will have a phone number and proper email address and will never do a job offer without interviewing you plenty of times. What scams are you seeing out there right now?
