Should I post our jobs on this job board? This is a question we often ask ourselves here at Red Seal, as we spend thousands every month marketing our clients’ roles. How does one decide if a certain job board will get them the right candidates, especially when employment is at the highest levels in our history and most people are already working?
To post on a job board that gets most of its traffic from Toronto, Ontario doesn’t help an employer in Vancouver–unless the targeted candidates are likely to relocate. And if there’s a relocation policy that assists with moving costs, and if the salary is in a range that that makes living in Vancouver attractive with the high price of housing.
Which brings us to our next question: how do you find out where the web traffic comes from? SimilarWeb is a great website that allows you to see how much traffic a website gets. But is traffic the only thing you should look at?
The other key is to look at who is the job board targeting. Are they a niche job board focused on Engineers, Trades or Mechanics, or is it a general post-any-job board? If you are looking for someone to really drive your business forward and help increase production, sales and impact the bottom line, then it is worth posting on both niche and large general job boards.
We would love to know your thoughts on where you post jobs! Thanks!
