A small manufacturer specializing in precision-fabricated metal components and assemblies seeks an experienced Paint Supervisor to lead its powder-coating and phosphate pre-treatment operations. This role is key to ensuring product quality, efficient throughput, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
Job Description

Supervise day-to-day operations of the powder paint line and phosphate pretreatment systems for metal substrates.

Manage, train, and schedule a production team of paint line operators, loaders/unloaders, and quality technicians.

Monitor process parameters for pretreatment, cure ovens, and powder application to ensure consistent coating quality and film thickness.

Coordinate maintenance and calibration of spray guns, booths, ovens, conveyors, and washers.

Maintain production schedules, minimize downtime, and ensure on-time delivery of painted components.

Oversee surface prep, chemical concentration, and rinse quality for optimal adhesion and corrosion resistance.

Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to address paint defects, color variations, or adhesion failures.

Implement and sustain 5S, lean, and continuous improvement initiatives within the paint department.

Ensure compliance with all EHS, OSHA, and EPA regulations, including proper waste handling and ventilation practices.

Track material usage, inventory of paints and chemicals, and report performance metrics to management.
Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience supervising or leading a powder coating and phosphate pre-treatment operation in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.

Strong working knowledge of pretreatment chemistry, powder coating application systems, and oven curing processes.

Proven ability to manage teams, delegate effectively, and maintain high safety and quality standards.

Experience troubleshooting equipment and process issues to prevent defects and downtime.

Familiarity with ISO 9001, lean manufacturing, and preventive maintenance principles.

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Willingness to work flexible shifts or overtime as production demands.
