The company is known for delivering high-quality HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping, and gas piping systems, and works closely with engineers, general contractors, and building owners to support efficient, code-compliant project delivery.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Plumbing Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, institutional, and industrial mechanical construction projects across Ontario. Working closely with engineers, project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors, the successful candidate will analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine material, labour, and equipment costs for plumbing and hydronic systems. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids while supporting the company’s tendering and project planning processes. The Plumbing Estimator will contribute to securing profitable work by delivering thorough estimates, coordinating pre-bid activities, and ensuring smooth transition of awarded projects to the project management team.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare accurate cost estimates for plumbing and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial construction projects based on drawings, specifications, and tender documents
• Perform quantity take-offs for piping, fixtures, equipment, and related materials to determine labour and material requirements
• Review and analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and complete pricing
• Evaluate tender documents, identify scope requirements, and support bid submissions and negotiations
• Develop budgets and cost breakdowns from conceptual design through final tender stages
• Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing records, and estimating documentation
• Liaise with engineers, project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to confirm scope, resolve discrepancies, and adjust estimates as required
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project requirements and site conditions
• Monitor project costs during execution and assist with cost tracking and reporting as needed
• Provide detailed estimate handover documentation to the project management team upon award
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Experience: 2 years of work experience as a Plumbing Estimator
• Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma
• Language: Proficiency in English
