Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time. 

Shift: Sunday-Wednesday, 04:30-15:00 Day Shift

Location: Nanaimo, BC.

Salary: $42.03/hr

Requirements:

  • Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certificate
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • A commercial Vehicle Inspection certificate (BC) is preferred
  • Valid class 1 / AZ operators license is preferred
  • Dedication to safety; a safety leader to help drive a strong safety culture
  • Working knowledge in the use of hand tools is required
  • Strong computer and mathematical skillset
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, reliability and flexibility while working as part of the team
  • Background check will be conducted as part of the hiring process

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned
  • Diagnose vehicle failures and perform mechanical repairs and replacements as required
  • Respond to local road calls and/or coordinate service support as necessary
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety
  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and productive manner
  • Leverage predictive diagnostic software to aid in eliminating vehicle breakdowns
  • Use
  • hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments; as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities through the asset management system
  • Complete all necessary documents, including eHOS and electronic vehicle inspection records
  • Other duties and tasks assigned by Fleet Supervisor/Manager
