POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Glazier and Metal Mechanic is responsible for the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of glass, mirrors, aluminum framing systems, skylights, curtain walls, storefronts, and other architectural glass and metal products for residential, commercial, and institutional projects. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications, measuring and cutting materials, positioning and securing glass panels, assembling prefabricated glass and metal components, and operating lifting and access equipment as required. The Glazier and Metal Mechanic must ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with applicable building codes, project specifications, and company quality standards. Strong attention to detail, technical skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential for success in this position.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine glass, frame, and installation requirements.
  • Measure, mark, cut, fit, and prepare glass, mirrors, aluminum frames, skylights, and related materials.
  • Install, secure, and seal glass panels, skylights, mirrors, doors, windows, storefront systems, and architectural metal products.
  • Repair and replace damaged glass, skylights, windows, doors, sealants, and related supporting structures.
  • Assemble and use scaffolding, rigging, hoisting equipment, man-lifts, and other lifting equipment as required.
  • Load, unload, transport, and safely handle glass, frames, skylights, tools, and related materials.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and company quality standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

·       Experience: 2 years of work experience in the position

·       Education: Completion of secondary school or equivalent experience

·       Languages: Proficiency in English
