Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time.

Location: Elkford, BC.

Number of Vacancies: 1

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience. Relocation assistance is provided, if needed.

Shifts: Mon to Thurs 7am – 4pm, Friday 7pm – 3pm with every second Friday off.

Experience:

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of applicable HSE regulations, concepts and trends.

  • Familiar with the key aspects of leadership and communication as well as indirect/remote training management and the importance of influencing skills.

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree in Science, Occupational and Environmental Hygiene or equivalent with graduate degree strongly preferred.

  • Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), Registered Occupational Hygiene Technologist (ROHT), or in process of attaining would be an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex mandatory regulations and their impact on the operation.

  • Highly effective communication skills with the ability to relate to and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well as a team player or individually as well as exhibit a positive “can-do” attitude.

  • Self-motivated and capable of working under minimal supervision and function best in high performance work environments.

  • Strong computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the technical occupational hygiene aspects and initiatives of the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system programs and processes.

  • Support HSE initiatives in health and hygiene.

  • Manage external hygiene consultancy and analysis services and assure the quality of their deliverables.

  • Identification of industrial hygiene best practices.

  • Prepare, organize, and deliver occupational hygiene training for the mine site.

  • Support the business unit Occupational Hygienist within the fields of health and hygiene.

  • Maintain current and accurate records of workplace exposures to track historical trends and provide proper reporting to key stakeholders.
